Honestly, I am so mad.
Like, yes, this book was grand. It was well written, it continued the plot we were expecting to get. If you compare it to (most) other fantasy stories written today, it's far and above.
HOWEVER,
A) The tie ins to the cosmere left much to be desired. Characters we were familiar with did little to nothing except being there, and mentions of stuff we know about was so confusing without any context even though I've been rereading other Cosmere recently. Wtf are we talking about, why is it relevant, who on this planet knew the recipe for chouta and can I please have some?
B) My main issue is with a HUGE SPOILER
HUGE SPOILER
why are you still here
PLEASE LEAVE IF YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU
I DON'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE TAGS, I'M RELYING ON GOOGLE AND MY MYSPACE PROFILE EDITING DAYS
LEAVE
SPOILER
WHAT THE FUCK is up with the way (you know who) DIES????????
It's epic, it's heroic, I've been waiting ten thousand years for a (character) novel to focus on him. But what in Trell's name was THAT. Yes, I get he is the best at speed bubbles but also wtf. It's giving Titanic implosion but take your favorite person down with the ship. Additionally, where the flack were our reaction scenes with literally anyone who cared? We got like "six month later" reaction scenes or essentially "where are they now" scenes, but I was all ramped up to cry and instead we got a bunch of, "Well this is what he would have wanted, blah blah blah, I am living my dreams, yada yada, Wax might be immortal now who knows eeeeeheeee."
If you're going to kill off my homie, at least give me an emotional scene to grieve. I am now upset, and my upsetness is causing me to point out flaws in this book.
The only thing I'm happy about is that I get to read Tress now so thank you for this emotional damage, goodbye.
