Felt a little out of place for everything to happen at such a larger scale here, but still enjoyable overall. Might need to come back after getting a little more context from the rest of the Cosmere...
Points for Steris and Wayne, ever the most fun people to read about.

A literal end to an era. I'm thinking that maybe the Mistborn series is simply not for me. I liked the characters in this one, but the story felt like it was going more and more off the rails to the point where the pseudo Western time period stopped mattering. This book was the worst in that regard, though it did make up for that with some incredible character growth. And yes, I got emotional over Wayne.
I think what really hurt this last book was all the involvement with the gods. They were getting more prominent in the past few books, but in this one there was clear indication they were going to directly interfere with things in the future. They were actually talking about jump-starting the world's technology in order to counter a war. If Sanderson actually follows through, I don't think I'll enjoy Era Three at all. It'd be the same as crediting aliens to the building of the Egyptian pyramids.
I wasn't really fond of all the time skips. This book starts six years after the last one, so it felt like the reader had to catch up a lot on what was going on. Don't get me wrong, Max was cute, but I would have liked more with Wax and Steris as a couple. Them getting closer together was a highlight of the last book. This one was much more action oriented. Which is fine, but I still felt like I missed out on a lot of character growth.
And I still can't really connect with the magic system. I like the idea of it, but it doesn't really work with the world Sanderson is trying to create. Maybe if he hadn't connected the powers to metal, it would have been fine. Since he did, the industrial age continues to make zero sense to me. It made me think of something from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Toph learns to metalbend, so in order to keep her imprisoned, she's put in a wooden cell. I wish the people of this world thought of something similar to counter all the people using metal for magic.
Wayne saved this book for me. The prologue with him and his mother was cute, and he was consistently the most interesting character of the bunch. He had to struggle with a lot of things and learned and grew a lot. Maybe I should have seen his ending coming, but I didn't and it hurt. I think another reason I would be reluctant to read Era Three is because I'm not sure I want to see what future civilizations make of him.
Curiosity will probably get the better of me and I'll check out Era Three anyway, but I'm not that excited about it.

Good conclusion. As always, the ending far surpasses the build-up. The treatment of Wayne at the end was particularly good.
