Starkey is a tireless researcher and an excellent historian

But the jewel is that he can also write superbly and turn an excellent phrase.

It’s hard to imagine a work on the subject that will surpass this

For a non-fiction study of the wives of Henry VIII its a bit light and fluffy. Interesting topic but just a slight dusting of all the scandal and intrigue.

Probably too informative, but I enjoyed learning about Jane Seymour, Catherine Howard, and Catherine Parr
