Not the Judy Blume I remembered and loved as a kid, but my 8 y/o enjoyed it.

A fun read-aloud with Henry. We are enjoying the brother-sister dynamic. Sure feels like the siblings in our house...

this was the first book I actually wanted to read when I was younger. and it was the first book that I read in a day. it's safe to say it was the book that got me into reading. :)

"The Pain," is actually Jake, a first grader. His sister, Abigail, a third grader, calls Jake "The Pain." Jake has his own name for Abigail: "The Great One." Jake and Abigail do not get along and both think that the other is their parents' favorite--and they have reasons to back that up. The two children argue and fight, bicker and get in each others' way. A follow-up to the picture book "The Pain and the Great One," this book is divided into chapters, with one child narrating each chapter so that we see both sides.

This isn't Blume's best book, but it's definitely a Blume book in that she nails the sibling relationship and does an excellent job of getting into kids' heads. Fun story and a good read for siblings--could help relationships when s/he sees that there might be another side to the story.

Fun middle grade simple chapter book. Perfectly captures the dynamic of fighting siblings who really love each other!

A selection entertaining short stories staring a brother (The Pain) and his older sister (The Great One), beautifully illustrated by the talented Kate Pankhurst. Nothing spectacularly bad or outrageous here, just ordinary everyday life.

Great audio book, with different readers for Jake and Abigail. It's a fun look at the complicated love/hate relationship between siblings. Perfect for early elementary school students.

Second book in the sibling series by the maestro Blume who writes young people so well, with humour and pathos, a lovely read, and altogether loads of fun. Worth reading over again.
