I adored this- it made me all feet kicky and smiley! An easy, tender, emotional, quippy, romantic read!!
This was my first book by Hannah and it was just really easy to read… I flew through it in one sitting! The dialogue was quick and quippy. The ASL element was done really well too- it has me interested and was so organic.
I also felt like this read had a lot of content: CPS, family displacement, addiction, grief. It also had diverse representation with race, gender identity, and socio-economic status. Sometimes, when a read has so much that it is fitting in as part of the plot and character development, it doesn’t feel fleshed out well or it seems like the agenda doesn’t match the content. But this was real, authentic, kind, normalizing, and thoughtful!!
Also, I adored the family and relationship dynamics between Warren, Luke, Willow, and Chloe! It was found family, forced proximity, slow burn, positive male relationships, romantic, tender, supportive, body positive… the list goes on! The tropes are fun and do what they need to do: slow burn, forced proximity, “friends” to lovers… we love!
This read just felt like the color yellow, despite the characters hardships. It gives you that awwww feeling, which is good after Warren kept giving me “lustful gaze” butterflies… like, dang.
