It’s been probably more than a decade since I’ve read this book and I sort of don’t want to give it 5 stars, but honestly, it’s a 5 star read. Yes I cringed at certain parts, but I still stand by this being Stephanie Meyer’s best work. And the story is such a contradiction. It has this grand scale concept of souls taking over the planet, yet, it could almost be categorized as a cozy fantasy. It’s technically low stakes, yet it’s not. Literally humans are living in the brink of extinction and we spend the story mostly seeing the day-to-day life in the caves. And even though I knew what was going to happen, I still couldn’t put the book down. It’s amazing. Definitely a book everyone, especially Twi-hards need to read. Also, I’m still team Jared, though this time I did question my stance more.

Really interesting and engaging story! A very cool premise, with good characters. I think it was better written than the Twilight books, and I really enjoyed it.

It took a long time for me to get around to reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer. And, it took me a long time to read it. Now, part of that is due to my life being incredibly busy the last two weeks. And, part of it is due to the book having a bit of a slow start for me. In the end, I did enjoy this book. I really liked all the characters and the storyline was interesting. I just didn't feel as thoroughly engrossed and addicted as I was to her Twilight series, maybe because I think this book had a much slower pace at times. She left this open for future books and I would definitely read them.

I'm surprised it took me this long to wait to read this book. Yes, it took me 150 pages to get into it. Wanda is on her 9th life and she's tired of being a leech. I definitely recommend people at least once in their lifetime.

I'm not a huge science fiction fan, but I loved this one. It was unique and it kept me reading for 2 entire days. Great selection and highly recommended to those who haven't picked it up yet. If you're not a huge fan of the Twilight series, you don't need to be. This book is very different.

I didn't notice Meyers' writing being so weak & melodramatic in my beloved Twilight series, but this was disappointing. It's a light sci fi soap opera, with some very creative ideas.

FOUR OUT OF FIVE STARS!!!! 7.00 CAWPILE rating.

I ended up liking this book more than I initially thought I would. I’m pretty sure I DNF’d this book a few years back and had NO intention of ever picking it back up. I am glad I did pick it back up because it is a very interesting story.

However...it does not need to be over 800+ PAGES! This book could have easily been 600 pages and gotten everything across just fine. The first 450ish pages I was not enjoying myself but wow wow wow the last 200 pages really saved the book for me.

I will be rewatching the movie for sure here shortly.
