Could NOT get through this one. It takes a strong dislike for me to actually stop reading a book but, wow, I just don't get it. In the interest of full disclosure, I'm not a sci-fi fan. Those of you that are may like it. I didn't.
I listened to the audiobook version of this (which I almost always do) and just couldn't stop listening. I'm surprised at the bad reviews and wonder if maybe this is a case where the audio comes across as significantly better than the written words. Personally, I thought this was head and shoulders above the Twilight series, totally different in subject and tone and maturity. I absolutely loved this story and found it highly addictive. And, it made me think about humanity and the "what ifs".

I just can't stand this book... I guess I just don't like sci-fi or something to do with that..
It took me a REALLY long time to get into this book, but once I got into the story I couldn't put it down.
I had a very hard time getting into this book. I think I just couldn't connect with the main character right away. About half way through I really started to enjoy it and found it hard to put down.
Is it super impressive and well written? Well, no...
Did I get completely sucked in and cry a few times toward the end? Yep.
Dang it, Stephenie.

"It’s not the face, but the expressions on it. It’s not the voice, but what you say. It’s not how you look in that body, but the things you do with it. You are beautiful.... I held you in my hand, Wanderer. And you were so beautiful."
Ian O'Shea.... you will always be famous to me.
The creativity to imagine so many unique alien species, and to imbue one with such a capacity for love and sacrifice... yeah. Wanderer is that girl.
I think if this book was released in 2024, Wanderer would be gender-queer and we'd be leaning into that. So many nods to this already exist. I think Sharon and Maggie have wonderful potential for chafacter development. I hate Kyle, but I'm not immune to his big/smol dynamic with Sunny. Would like to know more. I would also like Wanderer to NOT be in a 17 yr-old body when she's millions of years old. But you know. Comes with the territory.
I do yearn for a sequel, but I also know that means putting my favorite angels in danger. Maybe one day. Stephenie, girl, are you listening?!
