The setting of this book wasn't as great, but the actions were just as crazy. We see a quite a few major plot twists, but then again, when do thing ever happen in our favor?

While this book offered up as many twists and turns as the others, I didn't feel that slight adrenaline rush that I usually expect from reading other 39 Clues book. For me, that detached a little from the time crunch that Amy and Dan (and everyone else) find themselves in. The book wasn't titled 'Countdown' for nothing, yet while I was reading I felt a lack of urgency. For that reason, this book is rated GOOD and NOT GREAT

This book is just stunning. Amy's sacrifice, and her desire to protect Dan just add to the power of the story. Amy, Dan, Jake and Atticus continue their search for the ingredients of the antidote to the serum. Meanwhile, J. Rutherford Pierce is even more determined to kill them, although not desperate. Amy and Dan discover Pierce's wife's true identity, and overcome obstacles in their way. This is Amazing. Natalie Standiford uses Amy's desire to protect to make the story sadder, and just more brilliant. Countdown really is fantastic, and sacrifices must be made or all will be lost.

Countdown was a lot better than the second book of this series. I couldn't put it down!

This one was a bit surprising. It was quite morbid for a children's book, but maybe that was just me?

 Amy no!

In the moment when Dan's life is literally hanging by a thread, Amy makes the only decision she can, to save him. But in the process, she condemns her own life. Unless they can assemble the antidote in less than a week.
