Практически год спустя после прочтения ужасной 10-й части "бондианы" я набрался смелости и решил прочитать (и прочитал) следующую. Она оказалась достаточно интересной, по крайней мере, лучше многих других книг в серии!!!
Больше всего мне понравился собственно сюжет. Он получился логичным, ясным, не затянутым и динамичным!
Из минусов это, конечно же, странная любовная линия (ну, не может этот человек писать о любви!!!!), и привычные для [a:Ian Fleming|2565|Ian Fleming|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1364532740p2/2565.jpg] национализм и снобизм, а также целая куча рекламы (фильмы о Бонде этим тоже знамениты)! Но в целом мне понравилось, было не скучно!!!

The ultimate wife fridging. Too much description of skiing.
Felt more like it drifted along interspersed with the occasional dramatic or action sequence, and whilst it had its good moments wasn't the greatest Bond outing.
What was good is it does show Bond as more complex and interesting than the movies ever have and shows he is not superman.
The ending was unexpected and leads to what may be a different in Bond in the next book, but that will be revealed when I get there.
There are certainly not many more now in the Fleming original series to go.

David Tennant is superb reading this audiobook, and just as good second time around!
This is one of my favourite novels in the James Bond series. I loved the unusual setting of the case- a mountain peak of the Alps. Fleming describes it so well, I felt like I was there. Even though the enemy is a familiar face, their evil plot is so different, I really enjoyed it.
This book showed an immensely human side of Bond (and a little of M). Which added an extra layer of enjoyment. By the end my heart was breaking and wrenching. I felt so many emotions all the way through this novel. It was definitely one of Fleming’s better works!
