Painfully beautiful and poetic. So much depth to each character, it's such embodied writing.

I found this book in a little free library and I'm beyond glad I picked it up. It is such a beautiful story of a family, seeing each member's perspective as war forces them to move where the resources are. It's a good book to read when you need something that isn't too heavy but still feels real. It's grounding and uplifting all at the same time.

My favorite book since [b:Cutting for Stone|3591262|Cutting for Stone|Abraham Verghese|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1327931601s/3591262.jpg|3633533]. A poignant and beautifully written story of a family forced to leave Palestine, moving on to Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon and some to the west, all coming together through intimate ties of culture, place and love. Chapters told from the POV of different family members over the course of half a century. Some characters and chapters are more compelling than others. I loved it and hope it gets the notice that it deserves.

This book told the stories of multiple generations of a Palestinian family, their stories all interwoven together between past and present. The characters and story-telling was beautiful, but in audio-book form it was at times difficult keeping track of whose story was whose. Would recommend reading as a hard copy, or reading a summary first to help with an understanding of what happened when.
