Have some reservations about the story, about how it navigates wealth and privilege (the plethora of servants and maids) and life in the diaspora. But the epilogue made me cry like a baby as it brought other things within myself to the surface
slow-paced

Read this for my Palestine Through Ethnography and Film class and it reinvigorated my love of reading. Reminded me of Louise Erdrich’s novels. This book will forever stay with me.

I found this book to be quite engaging; I loved all of the characters and she wrote so beautifully that I understood and embraced their struggles, motivations, hopes and dreams. Thank you for this

I may have not been in the mood for an emotional family drama, because for some reason, this didn’t fully work for me. I thought this was beautifully written, but I never fully connected with the characters. I also had some trouble with time while reading. Sometimes sections of a chapter would follow a non-linear timeline, and my brain would frequently lose track of what things were happening in the past versus present.
