This book made my heart hurt. A story that told the tale of a dark past of a family, and how the surviving children are living now. There were many moments in this book where I was crying and wanted to reach through the pages to save these children. Each child’s perspective/story is revealed through the pages, and little truths and details of what they lived through is revealed. You see the path of healing and reconnecting of the children when they are faced with what to do with the house that caused them so much pain. Overall, this book was an emotional read of the story of 7 young children who grew up in a house of horrors, how they escaped, and how it affected them in life.

I loved the story.  So often stories are about the tragedy but this is years after the event.  It is heart breaking how they lives changed and how it affects their future.  I did at times find the story choppy as it moved from the past to the future but otherwise a sad but beautiful story.
