"When I first learned the truth, I thought Sebastian's life would be ruined. But seeing you, I realized everything would be fine. Because someone still loved him."

This was so sweet and heartwarming!!! I really, really enjoyed this story. It's so fun with very unique characters. It reminds me a lot of Princess Jellyfish . Both stories have a girl as the main character, and she meets a boy who loves crossdressing. I know that I'll definitely be reading more by Jen Wang in the future.

Absolutely incredible. Not only is the story well thought out, fun, and heartwarming with it’s messages and relatable characters, the art is beautiful. You can tell the artist had so much fun drawing this, and seeing the process at the end of the book (most/all traditional???) was a great insight into the work that went into the creation of this story.

This story highlights the authenticity of being queer, but does so without the expectation or label of queerness. Rather, we have Sebastian who is just being. It’s explained and shown with nuance, yet simplicity in terms of Sebastian just being Sebastian.
I appreciated how such a sensitive topic was handled so well, and as a queer and trans person, I found a lot of solace and representation while reading.

We deserve to have lovely stories like fairy tales too!
