This is my second in August Wilson's Century Cycle. Really enjoyed this story and the characters and the overarching themes of searching and freedom. Watching all these performed is definitely a bucket list item.

There are more characters living or traveling through the boardinghouse—everyone is a little lost, but this definitely feels like another play that's better on a stage than on the page (especially with all the music & dancing and the Act I finale where I didn't quite know what was happening with Loomis).

Everybody’s looking for something, but most importantly, everyone’s got a song within them. This beautiful play, filled with astonishing language and imagery, makes us realize how strong the human spirit is.

August Wilson is a genius. This one went a little over my head. I think it’s gotta be seen on the stage because so much of the climatic scenes seemed rooted in the energy between characters and not the text itself.
