This is a really beautiful exploration of Native Hawaiian’s connection to the land, and a devastating depiction of how colonialism disrupts generations. I found the depiction of spirituality in the form of connection to land and animals to be really moving, and the imagery felt so real. It lost some points for me because the plot progression felt too slow at times, but overall I really enjoyed it and would recommend it. Read this book and don’t visit illegally occupied lands!!!
