This one is better than #3, but most books are better than that :-D
I love Katy's wedding, I love the letters, I hate mrs. Watson, but I'm happy that story ended well, and how Clover responded so very differently to the different propositions was very, very funny :-D

I guess this is quite cute in terms of being a coming-of-age story?

I did struggle with this book, as I just feel that nothing happened. It was lovely to see Clover’s life, and see her become her own character and person away from Katy, but I feel that there could have been a lot more exploration of the relationships shown in this book as we barely get to see her and and Geoff get to know each other.
I did appreciate all the scene setting though, it painted a beautifully vivid picture and made me want nothing more than to visit and experience the natural beauty for myself.
And I was pleasantly surprised by Coolidge’s depiction of men in this book. From Geoff’s kindness and high standards of thoughtfulness for himself as well as others, to Clarence’s sweet declaration of love and prioritising his friendship with Clover and Geoff over his own potential rejection and bitterness, the men are well rounded characters who genuinely seem to respect the women around them.

Yet another delightful instalment to the series. I often wonder why so few people have heard of these books; they are worth every minute spent reading them.

Oh, the joys of iPhones! I recently found four of the five 'What Katy Did's for free on iBooks. I had been rather upset because I have managed to mislay books two and three of the series, and had never read number four.
I finished it in a day, and it bought me right back to my childhood (which isn't really so far away.) Susan Coolidge is, for me, as readable and as enjoyable as when I first read her. Now I've a compulsion to road-trip across America and study horticulture, which aren't bad side effects, I'd say.
