When you think you’ve figured this book out, you haven’t. The last quarter of the book alone is worth 5 stars. Every loose end is buttoned up and although super sad, the characters get the redemptions they deserve.

Wow. This book is absolutely incredible. It was thrilling and enticing all the way through to the end. One of the best plot and character combinations I've read in quite some time. Highly recommend for those who aren't afraid of letting their mind wander into dark places in search of answers to this mystery.

There are a lot of potentially triggering material

including the description of a hanging (suicide), injury/burn descriptions, child abuse, starvation, death, death of a child (dead child's body described), and as a MAJOR PLOT POINT, dissociative identity disorder (I do not have DID so I cannot speak to the authenticity of it - the author's afterword describes her research on DID).

If you're afraid of snakes, one of the narrators has a severe fear of snakes and will constantly describe snakes.
