Picked up in an airport and was pleasantly surprised!! I liked the format with the podcast woven in, made it more propulsive. I thought the character development was rich and the twists were good without being preposterous.

I love that books are starting to explore/interrogate the true crime media/podcast obsession. This book was a really interesting take on trying to solve a cold case. The small town setting always works so well, and the book truly kept me guessing by introducing so many lies and secrets and tangents. The podcast episodes were a cool way to push the story forward. The memory loss angle was also effective — I love when the narrator is unreliable even to themselves.
I think I would’ve loved a bit more resolution for some of the threads that were opened, and a little more character (this book was definitely plot-focused). But overall, i enjoyed this story — definitely a page turner

Can’t remember the last time I finished a book in two days (there were many other things I should have been doing but I couldn’t stop reading - the greatest feeling!) or sobbed (not cried, sobbed) over a book. Definitely read but make sure you have a block of free time.

I absolutely flew through this book and really enjoyed it. I loved the idea of a true crime podcast interviewer digging up the details from people in the small town in order to help solve this cold case.

It kept me guessing throughout as there were so many suspicious characters with intertwined storylines. It was one of those books that kept you on your toes and just when you thought you had it figured out, another curveball was thrown your way. Definitely recommend this one!

Thank you to Celadon Books & NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
