I flew through this novel in three days, but I wouldn't recommend it to everyone. Massive trigger warning for domestic abuse and alcohol abuse. I can handle some pretty dark stuff, but I found this one to be a bit gratuitous at times. The excessive infidelity bothered me.

With that being said, if you enjoy an immediately unreliable narrator, morally questionable characters, and lots of sarcasm - which I do - then you might pick this one up. I found the podcast aspect interesting and reminiscent of Lisa Jewell's None of This is True, although I enjoyed Jewell's novel much more. The whodunit in this one was fairly predictable, which is always disappointing for a thriller.

My favorite character was Beverly, the protagonist Lucy's grandmother. She was hilarious, and I thought the levity she provided was a nice counter to a very dark story.

For all my qualms and discomfort, I couldn't put this one down. I was supposed to clean the bathrooms and run some errands over the weekend, but I read this instead. Oh well.

A promising thriller that was just OK to me. I liked the format which included multiple narrators and a podcast format. It wasn’t “original” to me as I’ve read another similar podcast thriller but it was different than the typical.

I didn’t feel a strong connection with any of the characters and although I didn’t mind the main character’s sarcastic personality, it wasn’t anything special to me. My biggest gripe was that there were so many characters, I found it hard to remember who is who in connection to whom and why do I care? Everyone cheating on / sleeping with everyone else just made it more difficult to ground myself in who people were.

I was entertained, but there are better thrillers out there in my opinion!
