3 stars. NGL I was enthralled by the beautiful cover lol.

I liked this one but also felt like I had to force myself to read it at the same time. The concept is super unique, and the twist got me, but I found both the characters a bit... boring? I'm not sure why. They were multifaceted but it just wasn't hitting for me. And their romance had no spark imo. Also I couldn't really understand why Lexi was sooo obsessed with Mae. I found it a bit weird and annoying to be honest. It just felt like the book had all these moving parts that never really fit together super well.

I wanted to like this more than I did, as I love Beth O'Leary and her previous works. However, Zeke and Lexi just didn't do it for me the same way the previous FMCs and MMCs did. I also was bored in the middle section of this book and found myself having to push through instead of enjoying it. The beginning and ending were still engaging, and I did enjoy the happy ending.
