I loved this, however the final chapter dragged just a little too much. But other than that; ate and left no crumbs (very few anyway).

โณ๏ธ Nonlinear Timeline

When a single mother is awakened in the middle of the night, she hears a strange noise and realizes someone has broken into her home. Most concerning, her young children are also in danger. She must move quickly to get her children to safety and try to avoid the angry stranger.

The premise immediately drew me in. There is something extra terrifying about being a mother of young children and finding yourself alone in your home with an angry man. The middle drags on (a lot) and the police were incredibly unhelpful so it was painful to read, but it was worth it for the identity of the intruder and the pulse-pounding finale!

Woah. Didn't really know what to expect going into this book, the title could lead anywhere which was what drew me to it when I was browsing.

A mother is forced to the breaking point when her life and the lives of her children are threatened by an intruder. She hears a noise as she is coming out of her son's bedroom and then she sees a figure. Someone is in the house.

This book had suspense in bucketloads. I'm a late night reader anyway but I was staying up until all hours unable to put this down and then overthinking every noise in my own house as I went to sleep. Every mother's worst fear surely, a credible threat to her children, but as the book progressed its horrifying thought provoking, so many layers. I genuinely had no idea how it was going to end. Such a fantastic read.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

This book felt more horror than thriller to me which is not my vibe. If you are looking to spike your anxiety and/or consider never staying home alone then this book is for you. The author is talented in her writing though the book goes from suspenseful to meandering with back story at times.
