In this James Patterson novel, the hero was extremely likeable, if not very predictable. Like most of Patterson's main characters, Dan Carter is a tough guy with a complicated past. Dan has a complex love interest which is ignored most of the book except one brief encounter, as is the norm with Patterson books. The story was filled with twists and turns, some I saw coming and some that took me by complete surprise. Essentially, this was another James Patterson book.

I have read a lot of reviews that have criticized JP books for being so formulaic. I take issue with this complaint simply because I feel that if it ain't broke don't fix it. JP is not the only author to take this approach to books. I'm sure we can all think of authors who do this, but off the top of my head Nora Roberts, Mary Higgins Clark, Danielle Steel and Nicholas Sparks. Anyone who buys any of these books knows exactly what they are getting and to complain about it after the fact is, I feel, unfair to the author.

All in all this was a good novel by Patterson. Not necessarily a must read but a fun one none-the-less.

Enjoyed the hunt and chase, the crimes and criminals were also interesting to read about. Of course, it's over the top but that's what I expect of this series.

Really not impressed with this one. Thought it jumped around, there was confusing at times. Generally love his books but this one not so much so

I hate having to rate it so low! :( I love Patterson and the first Private wasn't that bad, neither was Private Suspect. London goes to a who set of new characters, that for me were not well defined or likable. The plot was interesting, but the book seemed to be slow not picking up momentum where it should. I'm scared to read the others in the series.... wish me luck!

Great mix of personnel stories intertwined with an investigation.

I’m so glad I’ve continued in the private world! I had so much fun with London and loved the twists!  I absolutely love how fast I go fly through Patterson’s books! Now onto Berlin!

Not much substance. Super quick and easy read.

Hannah Shapiro has moved to London from the US to study, under the protection of the Private offices, specifically Dan Carter. When she is abducted and her friends attacked Dan takes it personally, not least because one of Hannah's friends is his god daughter. For Hannah this isn't the first time she's been embroiled in such a nightmare. Private is working night and day to find Hannah, not least because they fear that she might be the latest victim in a group of women that are turning up dead, with their bodies mutilated.

This was exactly the sort of read I needed when I picked it up. With the trademark short chapters it was a quick read and packed full of action as is usually the case.

I wasn't a huge fan of the previous book in this series, finding the main character a big turn off. This one was much better, and I warmed to Dan a lot more.

I wasn't sold on the idea of each book being set in a different city and with different characters when I started this series, but now I'm a few books in I must admit the concept is growing on me. It also means I'm less worried about reading these in order than I usually would be!
