There's a few pages of author and trigger warnings on this book. But perhaps the most poignant note is from the author herself when she asks readers not to read reviews or plot points, and to go into this blind.
I'm so glad I did. And I'm going to give you the opportunity to do so yourself. So no plot points here. And I'm honestly going to just do the simplest review I can.

I want to give K. Webster a standing ovation for coming up with the most original stories. I have no idea what goes on in her mind but I know she isn't dreaming about cute bunnies and puppies. K Webster has become an automatic one-click author for me and I know she won't disappoint me with her dark reads, so I pretty much went in blind into this story. I absolutely had no idea what to expect and what would happen. The blurb does not give you any idea what will happen, and I think that is the best way to read a K. Webster book. Just go with the flow and expect some crazy twists in the book, because she can't help herself and loves to shock her readers.
This is my 11th book by her (I read all of them this year), so I am used to her twisted and dark mind. I don't know how she does it but she surprises me in each and every book. Whispers and the Roars started out like it was some contemporary romance, where the main female character Kady had some issues. It was like a second chance romance where the main male character Yeo was so swoon-worthy. I have to say, he was pretty much PERFECT. I fell for him HARD. He was the most understanding and supportive character EVER. You'll understand when you read this book. Kady had so much issues and you can't blame her because she went through some really messed up things in her past. Those flashbacks were heartbreaking, so be prepared for them. However she was also a fighter who learned to survive in her own way. Yeo and their best friend Bones (love him so much!) always had her back. There were so many amazing secondary characters that really upped this story to another level.
And then the author hit me with the plot twist and I was SHOCKED. I did not see it coming at all. The author did it again and had me saying OMG and WTF at the same time. So much respect for her for writing such a difficult and intriguing book. Read this book if you want something different. I am always on the hunt for books with unique story lines, and I have found that in every book I read by this author. Read this book!!! K. Webster will blow your mind! The only thing I would've wanted was that the book was longer. I have that same feeling for every stand-alone of K. Webster, I just can't get enough.

I was excited to pick this up as I kept hearing the shock/twist was so surprising. The twist WAS surprising and done well. The graphic violence/assault was a little much but I understood it. What ruined this for me was the racist language towards the Korean male main character. Initially the character making the comments was 10 years old and I could tryyy to make the case that its ignorance but it literally does not stop even as they age 12 years.
I want to write so much about this book but it’s best to go into this book blind if you pick it up. It’ll really mess with your head. (Check TW!)
‼️ MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD ‼️
okay first off the author & previous readers made this book seem like it would be such a weird & unique reading experience & that there would be this big reveal halfway through the book. nah. I knew what was happening by like chapter three but stuck with it because maybe I was wrong & there was supposed to be this huge mind blowing reveal. it was so. obvious.
ALSO I just hate the premise. Especially the idea that someone can be relieved of a ~serious~ mental illness that they had for almost 20 years in just a few months of therapy is ludicrous & extremely harmful to people who actually suffer from DID
hated this book don’t recommend reading, save yourself some time & go on to the next thing in your reading list
