This book deals with some heavy stuff, but it's best to go in 100% blind. Best decision I've ever made.

I will not be giving this book a full review, because I want you all to enjoy everything, and experience all of it raw. The moment everything clicks into place... it's just euphoric. Read this book, you can thank me later.

5+++ Whispers and the Roars Stars

I am going to try and do this without any spoilers.

First I am going to be brutally honest.. I was sooooo freaking confused for over half the book yet I loved it. I know that sounds weird but it’s true.

The connection between Yeo and Kady is unstoppable. Ack I was going to do a spoiler.. Let’s just say Yeo loves Kady for who she is and there is nothing sweeter or more heart breaking about that. Everyone should have a Yeo in their lives.

Now what I can say is keep reading even when your confused and wanting to be like this book is f’d up keep reading when it clicks you will be thrilled you kept reading.

I loved the love in this book, love came from everywhere.

The narration was spot freaking on, I can’t even tell you how much I liked it because all I would be saying is love, love and love… Read this BOOK!

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Wow that was a wild ride! I don't want to give any spoilers so I'm just going to say that in the beginning I was confused because I couldn't figure out what was going on but when it finally came together I had my suspicions and I was right but not to that extreme! Wow! But beware if you have triggers read some of the spoiler reviews first, if you don't have trigger issues go on blind, I think it made all the difference!

The narration was ok, the female voice was a little to childish for me but they both did an awesome job on so many different voices!

This is one of the most amazing books....

This is an amazing book. Not gonna lie, I was a little confused at the beginning when all these characters were being mentioned. When I figured out what was going on it was quite the twist for me. Not many books deal with mental illness very well or write it very well, and this was done amazingly well. Definitely worth the read.

What a dark, twisted, and beautiful story, all at once. I'll admit that I constantly read reviews and spoilers ahead of time, as much as the people around me hate it! But for this one, I listened to the author and other reviewers who said this was best going in blind.

I'm glad I did. How I felt I was being pulled in all different directions over the course of this story, and there were a couple of events that made me raise my eyebrows. Those that read it know what I'm talking about. But then, a little past the halfway point, the story takes a sharp turn in another direction, and suddenly, everything falls into place. So to those who are doubtful about continuing past the 50% mark, I highly recommend that you do. The supporting characters are all interesting in their own way, and even more so when you find out who they really are.

To top it all off, this is truly a story of unconditional love between our FMC and MMC. How many of us wish we could find a partner like that! The FMC has gone through a lot, and there are flashbacks that depict the horrors she underwent in her childhood. It's easy to feel sad for her, and understand why she's so disturbed. But, there is a satisfying ending, to boot, and I smiled when I read the last sentence. Not totally biased but I did like that the male love interest was Asian (or half-Asian).

Lovely prose that keeps you interested. The book is told in first person, from the POV of the MMC, FMC, and one of the supporting characters, later on.

Four stars because some of the events were a little hard to believe and unrealistic. The MMC was a little too perfect, almost to the point where he didn't seem human. A lot of supporting characters but many of them were not well-developed at all.

The love scenes are well done and sexy. There is a scene or two of child abuse and rape, so just be aware of this going on.

Other than that, I enjoyed this read, very much, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good, dark, twisted, and ultimately hopeful love story.

I had no idea what to expect when i began this book. I saw it on tiktok but per the usual i didn’t hang around for the reviews. All i knew was that it would make me cry and was full of triggers. Naturally my masochist self just had to read this. I was not disappointed.

I highly recommend you go into this book blind. If you must, ask for TW but honestly, not knowing what was going on made it that much stronger. This book is about love. About love that quite literally conquers all. I devoured this book and couldn’t wait to see how it ended. Yet i also took time with it to feel the feels K evoked. There were times i was confused and disgusted and appalled. However by the middle it all made sense. I’d definitely recommend this one.

HOLY MOLIE!

I could talk and talk and talk about this book for hours...

HOWEVER, EVERYONE should go into this book BLIND... yes... BLIND..

Don’t read reviews or ask anyone anything, just read it for yourself.

This book broke my soul and was such a beautiful tale. I freaking ugly cried the entire time.

Just read it and message me after you're done because I need to talk to someone about it.

***WARNING THERE IS NO WAY I CAN DO A SPOILER FREE REVIEW, SPOILERS BELOW***

REVIEW: This book was a little bit of a ride for me. I was recommended to read this book by someone, and once I read the synopsis it interested me. There are all sorts of content warnings going into this book, ones for abuse, sexual abuse, rape, self-harm, and violence. However, while these were in the book, I felt like I have read many books with heavier content before, without all the warning signs. In addition, there is also a lot of sex in this book, not super graphic or drawn out but enough to know what is fully going on during those scenes.

When I first started this book I was confused as to why I got recommended this one. I am not super into “sexy” dark romance books and thought that this is where it was headed. While it didn’t go in that direction, it got super weird with the main character and her boyfriend having sex, and then her boyfriend and their seemingly best friend who is a male having sex while the girlfriend encouraged it. It all seemed very convoluted. There were also many other characters who were living in the house with the main character and acted as “family” who we didn’t have explanations for and seemed to come from no where. At this part of the book I was confused as to what I was even reading. And vaguely considered DNF-ing the book, however, I was still interested because of the fairly good ratings.

Then I finally reached the half way point where the twist was revealed. The main character (Kadence) actually had dissociative identity disorder and all these other “family member” characters were her alters. It took me a little bit by surprise and I was interested in the story again. Things started to make more sense, and what I thought was super strange in the beginning of the book felt a little better. However, after that point I felt like nothing else really happened and once again I lost some interest.

This may also be related to the fact that I am a mental health therapist and have studied dissociative disorders and trauma. While a lot of the basics of the disorder were presented in a reasonable manner, the way it was “handled” and treated was not. I also found the sections about alters going into her mind and fighting/ getting rid of the other alters to be a low point in the book. It made it seem more fantasy than reality in that way, and I think doesn’t help with the conceptualization of the disorder. However, I appreciated that the author included resources for DID at the end of the book. I think that working with dissociative identity disorder in a book plot is tricky because of the immense stigma that surrounds it, and it is important to by careful how it is portrayed. Overall, I wanted to like this story more, but there were some parts that I couldn’t get past.

Speechless.
