So much nuance and truthfulness. Really lovely approach to adoption memoir. Well-written and filled with tenderness. The examination of family is deeply moving and something that will stay with me a long time.

It's good . . . but not a lot happens. I found my mind wandering a lot.

I’m both an immigrant and adoptee, so I took a personal interest in this book. While there were some relatable moments embedded in the book, it does not live up to the high expectations that other reviews outline (esp. after reading a memoir like Know My Name). Like others have said, the story would have been better served as an article in a magazine. I also felt really torn about her experience towards her adopted family and her longing towards finding more about her birth family—but that might be just my personal biases on the topic. It’s an interesting read but I can’t say I’d recommend it.
