Actually really enjoyed this book. Might have been a nice series. The detective badass sounds interesting to follow. But it doesn’t look like it will be a series as she changed job at the end to something that is doesn’t feel plausible for her character.
The pace was good and the mysteries kept you guessing.
My final thought at the end just “Men!” And big sigh.

A bit more descriptive gore than I was expecting, but I loved all the twists. Did not see the ending coming, and still mourning....
You know the bar is below six feet when you finally find a thriller book where the author doesn't fuck up the ending and you feel like you won a lottery. But here we are.
3.5 rounded up to 4. The storyline hooked me right away and the multiple POVs and quick chapters made me want to keep diving back in. I did wish the POVs were more balanced and at times there was a little tooo much going on. But overall I enjoyed the story and would read another book by the author.

Quick, twisty, and good storyline. A bit unbelievable towards the end but still liked it!

Overall, a quick read that kept me hooked! I did have some inclinations of who the killer was; I liked that there weren’t major twists for the sake of twists, it all made sense. Some of the smaller connecting details were rushed, but I like a mystery that keeps me roped
I loved the premise (mass murder in 1999 at a Blockbuster with only one survivor, then a nearly identical crime 15 years later), and I was intrigued by the characters Chris (a lawyer, and the brother of the O.G. suspect) and Ella (the O.G. survivor, now therapist). Unfortunately, Ella and Chris (especially Chris) were just turning out to be side characters. Most of the story was following Keller, an FBI agent pregnant with twins. I was soooo much more interested in Ella and Chris's perspectives, but almost every chapter is with Keller. I didn't at all care for the purely procedural storyline she followed, and while I was interested in knowing how it all turned out, I couldn't bear to listen any longer. It didn't help that I didn't at all care for the reader for Keller. The other readers were fine, but every time a Keller chapter started I found myself rolling my eyes.
I also didn't really feel connected or invested in Keller or her partner, Atticus. They felt stale, and Keller's husband felt sort of like a caricature. It's a shame, but there's a million other books out there.
