Pretty enjoyable. I thought this was gonna be more horror than thriller but I was still entertained.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading! It also kept me up a little later than I like to be, both in terms of scared and couldn't put it down. I thought the writing style was great, I was invested in the characters, and I really wanted to know what caused all the issues that the Aurora faced. It was slow in maybe a few parts, but overall kept my attention focused solely on this book.

The only reason I'm not giving this book 5 stars is because, after finding out what happened, it's not one I foresee myself rereading.

A spooky and atmospheric jaunt to the far reaches of space, "Dead Silence" held my interest and helped me envision the setting well. The characters were well-drawn, the dialogue and internal monologues felt realistic (although occasionally hyperfixated on or retreading reactions to character beats), and I really enjoyed hearing the plot unfold. The prowess of the narrator, Lauren Ezzo, certainly helped; I would gladly listen to other audiobooks read by her, and am excited to explore Barnes' other work!
