Alright, I wanted to love this a lot and I didn't. For me it was cringy and the smut at the end was lackluster. I loved The Love Hypothesis and thought I would love the novella's and it just wasn't the same. I am sure this works for a lot of people it just didn't for me. I didn't like the MC or the love interest, I felt both were one dimensional. I cringed at a lot of parts and found the smut really cheesy and way unrealistic in a not great way. There was consent without consent which was just weird. How they talked to each other during the smut and even prior was weird and way too much telling not showing. I won't give spoilers but the love interests discussion (i.e., statements) during the smut was just in a wrong place, wrong time. It should have been prior to smut.

This one was super hard for me to get through. I listened to the audiobook and I don’t know if it was just the person reading it or what. A lot of the dialogue sounded robotic and didn’t seem to suit the actual character in the book. I typically have loved most of Ali’s books, so this one was really hard for me to listen to. It seemed so quick and there wasn’t enough depth or development of the characters for me to be fully invested. I found myself getting really easily distracted and kept needing to rewind a part or two and at times it still didn’t make sense.

did not hit the way it was supposed to hit.

for being an engineer, mara sure made a lot of assumptions with no info to back them back. also her "oh he works for an anti-environment company. he must hate nature. he must hate art. he must have a vs model gf. he must he an asshole." thinking got annoying real fast. people need jobs mara. we can't be picky when we need the money and a friend got us the job.

also guys did you notice. mara is so tiny. liam is soooooo big. he towers over mara who is tiny in case you forgot.

This was such a cute novella! The chemistry was strong and really well developed even though the book was only 110 pages. The background characters, lives, jobs, and main characters were very well developed outside of the romance and the romance was still amazing. I love the STEM women influence and cannot wait for the other two novellas to follow.
