If you want to read a book that is historical fiction with a focus on female empowerment Kate Quinn is your gal!  War time brings about great tragedy but also brings out the strongest amongst us. I loved the story to the point that Im likely to ready Lyudmila's real memoir. I loved the ending that they gave her husband, he deserved it! The one thing I wish was delved into more was the marksman story but I get it would have added more fiction there.

Very much enjoyed this book. Nothing activates a women more than rage. She changed her whole life based on rage.

Started back in the spring and unfortunately didn’t continue reading it, but when I picked it back up on August 10th, I finished it in a day.

Loved this! It’s astounding to me that the main character was based on a real woman.

Whilst The Diamond Eye was a work of fiction, it was based on the true story of Lyudmila Pavlichenko.  I was vaguely aware of her story, however, with my knowledge of history being rudimentary at best, I wanted to learn more about this remarkable woman and discovered just what an incredible job Kate Quinn did in basing this novel on "Lady Death."  It was obviously well researched and her ability to write a fiction novel off a non fiction subject, gave me vibes of The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah.  An enjoyable and interesting read.
