I loved this book. It made me feel so many things. I relate to Aristotle so much, the way he’s hidden in his head and thinks way too much, it made me feel so close to him. The writing is beautiful and personal and absolutely amazing. The story spins out so easily and spans so much time while feeling timeless.

I really, really, really really liked this book. It made me cry from the beginning to the very end, nonstop, but it was worth it (not many books do that to me so that should already tell you how fucking good it is). The best thing is I had not expected it to have that effect on me at all. It's a lovestory, so you have to like lovestories to like this (I am normally not that into those). I think what I loved the most about the book are its protagonists. And I really had not expected it to end the way it did (I was glad about the ending!). I could really identify with both of them. Growing up in a Latinx household, being queer, loving literature - everything about the characters resonated with me obviously, but I was still surprised at how much it did. You can really drown in this book, get lost in its summer. And you're always hoping. Hoping for Ari to finally get it, to let himself be free. Also, I have never been so much into the parents in a novel. Every character is complex, a full-fleshed person, even. It is an honest book. Until the end I did not know how everything would turn out. Moments of doubt and certainty, perfectly transported. Everyone has their story to tell, and everyone tells it without leaving anything out. Pain is felt in this book, seen and honoured. Pain pours out, beauty, and love, and hope. I think this book is a celebration of love, and of those who won't stop loving. One of my new favourites. Everyone should read it.

It's been 6 years and I still love this book. Maybe even more than the first time I read it.

If you haven't read this book before, turn around and read it right now. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is one of the best books I've ever read.

The main characters, Aristotle and Dante, made me laugh and cry and smile and sigh and become so attached to them that I wished the book would never end.

From dealing with family struggles to depression to figuring out what makes up someone's identity, this book covers everything a teenager deals with. Maybe that's one of the reasons I love it so much.

Plus, the storytelling is done really well and kept at a good pace that never made me bored or confused. I couldn't put it down. I am in love with Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. Maybe you will fall in love with it too.

After some serious begging nudging from my boss, I decided to take a crack at this. I listened to the audiobook, which is read by the great Lin-Manuel Miranda, who is the great showbiz dad I never had. It was the beginning of a new semester, and it was nice to have this to listen to when I felt like putting off school work. In all seriousness, I really did like this book.

Ari and Dante are precious and must be protected, and I'll add them to my nice little pile of characters that I would go to war for. An all-around great read, and an even better audiobook.
