At the beginning of the book I felt like I wasn't the intended audience. And then I really loved the second half of the book.

But the author is a transphobe so please do not support him<33 (I purchased my copy before I was aware of that)

THIS BOOK!!! I loved it, it was def a coming of age novel and was totally an amazing read. I cannot wait to buy the sequel and read it immediately!! The characters were likeable and you feel empathy for what they're dealing with. Ari definitely sorta had a personality similar to Holden from CITR. It was just amazing!! (I'm reading it for school so it kinda has to be on my mind) I just liked them together and I wished that there was a dual pov so we can see what Dante thought as well. But it was amazing nonetheless.

Probably my favourite book I’ve read this year. I loved reading about these characters and watching them grow and figure things out. Surprisingly, I actually loved the way the book was written and find it really shows how Ari thinks about things. 5/5

Thoughtfully and beautifully written. There was a distinct setting and tone throughout the novel. I got a strong sense of the personality and mindset of each character, especially the main two. I loved the depth in which it conveyed familial relationships. All the parents in this are A++

What a lovely lovely story 🥺 I love these types of deep character dives, and the work and care put into these boys and their families was just gorgeous. The tone was somehow gentle even as it dealt with really harsh subject matter in a blunt way. Loved these boys, loved the style. Can't wait to read book two ❤️

First read this book in 2017 but re-reading it now before to familiarise myself before the sequel and it was just as fantastic as I remember! If you like a lot of plot then this probably isn't for you as nothing really happens (if this was titled for its plot it would be called"Aristotle and Dante go in and out of hospital") but instead it is such an incredibly beautiful and in-depth look at being a teenager, growing up, family, trauma, being mexican-american and being queer. 10/10! Absolute Chef's kiss! Can't wait to read the sequel!

I was hesitant at first but I adore this book. I’ve never read anything in this style but it’s amazing. Ari’s commentary (particularly about his parents) always hit too close to home but I think that’s exactly what I needed. Only reason I’m not giving this five stars is because there were some brief unnecessary aspects of the story I didn’t really enjoy.

A painfully honest book about two teenagers unsure if they are in love, about the secrets we hold tight.
