This was such a hyped up book, with people saying it changed their lives, and that just didn’t happen for me. It was introspective, with a real look at grief and morality within the scope of teenage life, however, there were so many things unanswered that it left me with more questions than answers. However, I think that is the point. To ask ourselves, “how do you get out of this labyrinth?” I wouldn’t say that this book was bad by any stretch of the imagination, it did make me think about important questions, but I just didn’t love it as much as I thought that I would.

really liked it, not as much as i did a few years back, pudge and his obsessive immature love with alaska can be a bit annoying and repetitive, he is quite ignorant all in all not a ton happens and i did not like REALLY want to read, but the descriptions of culver creek paint a really nice picture and made me emerge in the story, characters are flawed, all in all very realistic and thought provoking

Green's debut novel, and hands down his best. The complex relationship between Miles and Alaska is explored in the perfect amount of detail, and then the plot twist comes out of seeming nowhere (aside from the chapter titles, which count down to the twist in a way that spoils it a little). However, the aftermath of such a twist is not entirely depressing (the assembly scene is one of the funniest scenes in all of fiction): the character growth is superbly written, with the diverse group of friends all growing throughout the course of the novel. Green makes the interesting choice to give the final word to Takumi, not Miles, but it is an effective one: it enables the ultimate focus to be settled in a way Miles' character could never manage.

“The only way out of the labyrinth of suffering is to forgive.” 📚 Miles aka Pudge starts decides to attend Culver Creek Boarding School where he meets an interesting cast of characters. One of them being Alaska Young — beautiful, clever, funny, messed up, intriguing girl….👱🏻‍♀️

This may be an unpopular opinion of a popular book, but I just did not like it. It was kinda boring and the characters were obnoxious. Though I will say that this book is meant for young adults and since I am not one, it may be that I can no longer relate to these characters. 🤷🏼‍♀️
