*** SPOLIERS****
This was my least favorite book of Flynn’s books sadly but that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it.
I thought the first half was a little too slow for me, I wanted more thrill and less plot dissection over and over but that’s also just the mood I was in.
( I think if I was in more of a slow burn thriller mood this would have been my cup of tea)
I will most likely read this again and will be interested in my rating then, since while in the middle of this book I DID get a craving to reread Sharp Objects and Dark Places because both of those gave me that quick thrilling DONT read at night feeling.
The characters were hard to like, and hard to root for in there own respective ways, I did not enjoy the ending, I wished it had ended differently, or At least had an epilogue that would appease the rage and anger I felt at Amy, and even Nick for being just as toxic as she was and perpetuating that into a family.

Late to the game as I'm new to thrillers and knew I had to read this classic. Have not seen the movie yet, so I went in completely blind, only having a vague idea what it was going to be about. Wow. What a ride. The last third of the book was impossible to put down. I am so glad I prioritized reading this early in my thriller era. I may update review as I process this masterpiece. I definitely plan on reading Dark Places and Sharp Objects

Even though I knew the plot because I saw the movie, I was hooked the entire time. There were so many important details, but not to a boring degree — I never felt the need to skim through any parts. I love Flynn’s writing. The characters aren’t unlikable just to be unlikable; they’re real and complex. Great book.

Quick read but definitely did not live up to hype. There a few major plot points, poorly paced and wayyyy too long. The author sure loves to eat a dead horse.
