I struggled to get into this book. The middle third was better but I struggled with the final third again. The way it was written, I found it hard to follow what the main character was thinking, and found her over thinking difficult to follow at times.

I enjoyed the humor and writing style of this book. I look forward to reading more of the author's books in future .

Did my problem start with my love Aofie McMahon narrating this book? Yes - because she also narrate all of Sally Rooney’s books, and this is not her book, even though in my head it is.
Ava just has no idea what she wants out of life, and she’s attracted to Julian because he doesn’t want her. Julian is lowkey a patronizing ass (say with an Irish accent). I was on the fence about Edith the entire story, and I’m glad that Ava avoided her at the end.
Why Ava though hiding both relationships was a good idea is beyond me. Did I think that they were going to be in a thruple - yes.
This book didn’t leave me feeling anything, I’m glad that Ava is going to Germany. There was nothing for her in Hong Kong - I guess keeping getting free rent and free clothes from the rich banker.

Sarebbe stato coinvolgente, lo specchio di una generazione, illuminante se non fosse stato anche noioso, ripetitivo all’inverosimile, pieno di indicazioni sulle strade di Hong-Kong, riempito un po’ a caso di nozioncine sulla grammatica inglese.
A sprazzi riesce a dipingere il modo contorto e indeciso il pensiero di una generazione di giovani (forse troppo giovani considerando l’età dei protagonisti) ma poi si perde, ripete e contorce.
Forse questo immobilismo era esattamente quello che l’autrice voleva rendere, ma su carta temo che l’esperimento non sia riuscito

A realistic story of 20-somethings figuring out their lives. I enjoyed the wittiness and the (not always so) subtle political opinions. As a non-native English speaker, the writing was a bit advanced at times but that is on me.
