* I think I said that the vague economic commentary was interesting before but I take it back - well, I don’t know. I guess theres actually so much potential there but it’s disjointed and i get annoyed when I have to read “economies of scale.” I would have loved more conversations with Julian about money like one of the last ones they had where he talked about her attitude towards spending - that was incredible
* I have to say that I admire the commitment in making Ava be absolutely insufferable in the Julian section, even though I hated reading it
* the whole Teaching English was a good little device I suppose

Now I’ll use my procedural memory to mimic the author’s writing style in my speech. Thanks. 4.0

Honestly hated Ava hated Julian hated the writing and felt like I rushed through the last 50 pages because I was so DONE with the pretentious writing with Irish references that I just couldn’t compute and then to be left with THAT ending… alright. I kinda loved it but also I feel like everything about this book was just frustrating and I’ve read many more books dough Normal People cough that just do it for me way better than this book.

Edith 5ever I love you girl

3’5⭑ Difícil no compararlo con Sally Rooney

reread may2025 :: though this was more exciting to me at 18 than it is now at 22, i still read it in two days. i consider this kind of book to be my guilty pleasure genre ,, if there is such a thing?

Irish authors know all the secrets on how to write the human condition. it got a little boring at the end but overall I enjoyed the dry humor and the messiness.
