I'm so angry with myself for not reading this book sooner, but oh my gosh, such a fantastic read! There was no part of this that I didn't love; From the characters to the setting/era in which the story takes place. I also loved how I thought I was figuring the story out, but wasn't completely sure as I read on because Millecam was so good with the twists and turns. Don't make my same mistake I made by taking so long to read this story! It's amazing! Full of love, strength and courage. Definitely recommend
My favorite quote in the whole book:
"And the way you think yourself unfit for kindness and love in return tells me no one has properly shown you how deserving of it you truly are"
I mean, COME ON!!!

This was such a fun read! I love a good Peter Pan retelling and having it be set during the 1920s was such a cool take. The slow burn was BURNING and done so well. I was absolutely dying for Charlie and Evie to get together. There were a few twists I saw coming (still really cool though!) and a few that surprised me. I really enjoyed both Charlie and Evie as characters and enjoyed their character journeys. I also LOVED Alice and am excited to see her take center stage in book two! I do wish we had spent more time in the Neverland and seen more of the Fae because that part of the plot was so interesting, but hopefully we’ll see more in the rest of the series. Overall, a really fun historical fiction with some cool magic and Peter Pan lore!
This story hooked me from the very first chapter. The prologue was full of action and intrigue that left me with so many questions, I just had to keep reading. I absolutely loved the slow delivery of answers we get in the story, and the hunt for Pan's magical objects was such a fun additional component to the original story.

I finished The Never Heir recently and I enjoyed it! It blended several things I love - the atmosphere of the 1920s, Peter Pan retellings, and dark fantasy. This book was definitely a slow burn but once the pieces started falling into place, I couldn't put it down and I enjoyed the ending very much! I'm feeling a little
“The life sparkling there was brighter than the sunlight glittering across the turquoise waters surrounding the Never-land.”
The way that Ms. Millecam writes fairytale retellings is like no other, and even though I don’t feel connected to any of the characters, I truly am excitedly awaiting the upcoming conclusion of this otherworldly trilogy.

intriguing plot with an ending I didn’t quite expect. wrapping up all the threads was pretty satisfying. didn’t get super attached to characters (but I’m really picky, so that’s a me thing), though I did appreciate how reasonable they are. this book also had a habit of skipping past scenes I didn’t want to see, which was very kind of it

Please note that I read book 2 before book 1 because that's how I do things: the wrong way.

This is such a good series! I really enjoy the whole world-building and the mix between Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. It's easy to enjoy all the references to the original tales while still being completely swept away by the uniqueness of this story. It's so well done and on top of that you get to experience the 20s era which is a time period I'm less used to reading about so it's very interesting.
The plot is super intriguing right from the start. You are never sure who you can trust and what will happen, and it sure keeps you on the edge of your seat. I'll say that both endings (book 1 and 2) left me unwell in a "I need that next book now!" kind of way. It's how invested you get in this story, and you just want to know what will happen next.
I really loved our main characters quite easily. That being said, the romance was lacking a bit for me in this one. It was there for sure and there were some super cute moments and tension and all, but I remember how involved I was in the second book, while in this one I couldn't really see the relationship forming that much. Maybe because there were a lot of other characters with them, not sure, but still, the plot was fascinating so it wasn't a big deal.
I can't say I loved the group of friends that were borderline enemies... It did make things interesting, but they were a bit frustrating at times. But that might be just me always looking for that strong found family vibe, haha. There is still hope, I know for sure Alice grew on me in book 2 so it might get to that satisfying point eventually.
Overall, the pacing was absolutely great, the main characters well-developed, and it was honestly so easy to read and fly through this one. A super fascinating world that you just can't get enough of.
Thanks to the author for the e-book. All opinions are my own.
