A technically flawed but riveting read.

It's not often I come across a good MM historical--I do have a few favorite authors who write it, but it's nice to stumble on another one. And this one delivered. The tension and conflict within, even just from the 1300s setting alone, combined with the growing relationship between Harry and Iain to keep me turning the page. I've read this multiple times and I keep coming back to it. It's one of those books that stick with you.

I think I could have liked this if our main character, Sir Harry, had managed to redeem himself. In my eyes, he fell very short, morally. I had hoped for much more character development to help this awkward, unbalanced romance.

Three stars because it was well written stylistically, even the (maybe overly) gratuitous sex. I'm left simply feeling terrible for Iain.

Loved so many things about this, loved how fierce Iain was, how kind Harry was, and how they loved each other. Was frustrated with Harry’s reticence numerous times. Story was nice and long, spanned over years - which I always like!
