Absolutely love Natalie Haynes. I am working my way through her collection of works and I'm always impressed with her stuff. Both thought-provoking and entertaining, she's a delight to read!

I took quite a while to read this one, but that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t good. I particularly loved how much of Haynes’ personality came through her writing. The dry wit portrayed through parentheses and movie references were all really significant in my enjoyment of this book. As a collective I enjoyed all the chapters. I love Greek mythology and I love women in history so this book was perfect. I think my favourite chapter would be the one on Demeter, purely because I think her maternal rage is just so powerful and incredible. I think when women get angry at the injustice typically caused by men, it is just so incredible.

Great tone of voice, funny and interesting. Would have liked to hear more about Athena Vs medusa and some of the chapters had a bit of a strange format.

I liked it when I understood the references, but the problem was that I either already knew the stories and the modern references or I didn't and then I lacked context to understand what the author was actually talking about. Although she always gave a short summary, for me it was confusing when I knew nothing about it before.
