this book is somewhat frustrating! I loved a lot of it- learning about Greek deities whom I had only really considered before when reading perch Jackson. These immortal beings in all their glory, viciousness and chipped statues make for an excellent subject matter. I was truly gripped for pages at a time.

however,  there's the attempts to link them all to the present day and pop culture. sometimes I really enjoyed this : especially in regards to the sanitisation of hades and persephone nowadays and perceptions of Hera. however other times I was skimming through pages of details on what felt like random movies. I like learning about Artemis. I like the hunger games. did I need multiple pages on parallels between the two... not really lol.

Also the many, many jokes fell flat far too often. There should have been less and then they would have been more appreciated.

3.5 ⭐️ I’m not sure there’s much more an author can say about Greek gods that we haven’t heard already, but I did like how the author wove in modern movies and literature to show how the Greek goddesses are archetypes in many stories. It was fun to learn how a Woody Allen film and the Hunger Games, among others, are based off of Greek mythology.

This was an interesting book about the Greek goddesses. Hera and Demeter. Artemis and Hestia the Muses and the Furies, Athene and Aphrodite.
So many different stories and different information depending on where it came from and how long it’s been. Some of these stories they were so mean to each other and some mortals.
