Grave Peril by Jim Butcher

Jim Butcher really wraps you in his story. His graphic descriptions and wonderful character development help the reader enter the story. I'm not a big wizard or vampire person so that aspect didn't appeal to me so much but I was fascinated with how he intertwines the concepts of magic, Christianity and faith. I listened to this book through Overdrive from my library and the narration by James Martsters ("Spike" from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) was awesome. Definitely worth a read.

I’m continuing these only bc the stories are somewhat interesting - I have no actual engagement with the MC
this is really embodied by the fact that I give 0 fucks that he is far from the most powerful character in the book
They are a little funny tho occasionally

A great forward by Jim Butcher, this book really hit its stride for this series. I’m excited to continue with more!

What a piece of crap. I was so close to giving up on this series and I just managed to finish this third book.

The story is pieced together, the characters are one dimensional, and the main character isn't really likable.

If you want a series of good books in this genre check out the Ben Aaronivitch books, but don't waste your time on this one.

Love the audiobook reader. But, my god how many descriptions of brea$ts do we need every 5 minutes?? I know a lot of people say this is where things get better but this was just not it for me. The first two were significantly better to me. The plot was okay, but the conflict was always so conveniently resolved.
