Hi, how is this a children's book? Like wow. I picked it up because I have been a Hatchet stan since my whole life really and wanted to check out Paulsen's newer work. And this somehow has all the action and personal struggles Hatchet and its sequels have, but is also incredibly lyrical and written so so beautifully. JD Jackson was a perfect choice for narrator, also. I'm really just blown away by how this book can simultaneously (and successfully) be both an epic poem and a middle grade novel.
