I like the author, just didn't appreciate the book. It wandered, and I wondered 'is this going to come together at the end?' and my answer is "not really"

I wanted this to be more of a love story than it was, but it was a nice rainy day quick-read.

This book claims to be about Tom and Ben, "lost in time, hunting each other across decades, leaving clues in books of poetry and trying to make their desperate time lines overlap." In reality, it's about Emmett discovering those clues and attempting to figure out who Tom and Ben were.
We do see glimpses of the beginning of Tom and Ben's relationship, and the moments leading up to them being lost in time, however this isn't really their love story, or even their story at all.
This book is also very British, and I think if you are from that area or familiar with it you might enjoy it more. Personally I never really understood the impact that the locations were supposed to have on the narration.
On a technical note, this needed to have a better line edit done. It's all in first person, but often when we get portions from the time travellers, we get the wrong name used (for example if Tom is narrating it should be I & Ben, however we will get points where it's I & Tom)
In then end, I was left feeling like it needed to be fleshed out more, and also that the blurb on the back was almost totally irrelevant to they story told.
