like Constantine’s The Last Mrs. Parrish, this oscillates between the POVs of “the ex” and “the new woman,” and the mystery is concealed by the tricky narrative. the twist was cool but out of left field.
Moderate: Grief, Murder, Suicide, Abandonment, Chronic illness, Death, Death of parent, Mental illness, and Infidelity
Minor: Body shaming

I enjoyed a previous work of Liv Constantine's, but felt the choice to bounce between wives ruined the momentum. Here, I think it works. Joanna's narration added energy and mystery to Piper's through the more mundane domestic moments. I certainly would have taken out some of the every day moments: it was more than clear that Piper's stepchildren didn't accept her.
I'm not sure all the twists hold up (there was an underbaked one at the end), but the main one had power to it on first read.
