I wish I'd been able to read this in one go to give it the attention it deserves. The way Seán Hewitt uses nature is just so startling, making his own queer erotics out of nature. It's like if Gerard Manley Hopkins turned up in 2024. As well, We Didn't Mean To Kill Mr Flynn was a gut punch, the mix of verse with reportage feeling even more sickening because of how otherworldly the rest of the collection feels.

God this was a gorgeous collection of poetry. Like Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream this is a hymn to the forest, to the river and to the things that come out at night that often reflect the queer experience. Amongst the natural landscape we are greeted with threads of desire, shame, reflection and education.
