The title tells it. I wasn't entirely sure what I thought about the story while reading - was I enjoying it, or was this repulsion creeping up? "Keep an open mind, she's 88!", I said. I think I entered the booking hoping for dark comedy and that was the wrong way to go about it for me - I didn't find it particularly funny because Maud herself isn't particularly funny. The humor relies on the subject, an octogenarian murderer. Maud, herself, is cold. For me that made it unenjoyable because instead of quirky or eccentric, or wielding dark justice, I felt aghast at her manner. I also didn't entirely believe that the last murder was at all justified, so it bugged me at the finish.

Quick, fun read. Although these were short stories, they all have the same character so it was similar to reading a book.

A lot got packed into a small book. The lady was crazy and some of those people didn’t deserve to die but it was an entertaining story. Would make a good series/movie.

…she had learned that it was smart not to reveal that all her senses were in full working order.

About: A short story collections that follows Maud, an elderly lady that can hear just fine and sees plenty. She's lived a long and full life, and plans to continue enjoying herself, even if sometimes unfortunate incidents might occur. Incidents in which, perhaps, she had more of a hand in than people would believe of a lady well into her eighties...

Thoughts
This is a really fun read. It's super short but each little story packs a punch. Maud is a fantastic main character and the things she gets up to, you can't help but cheer her on. It's best to go into the story knowing as little as possible and just let Maud get on with things.

An old lady kills people (in a funny/lighthearted way) what more could you want!
