If I didn't think Barrons was a full of shit, fake, playing hard to get bastard and later he would cave in and show his soft side... I am so wrong now! What the author was trying to betray Barrons as before, through Macs eyes, ... I did not understand the full intensity of him, hence what I was just saying about him. (fyi: as I write this I am only on book 2) well now I know exactly the type of man he is. He is that dark, merciless, cruel but sexy as fuck man! He is that very dark sex fantasy a lot of woman have but are so shy about admitting! After reading this... Barrons is just my kind of man to full fill that fantasy! lol!! I am going to read the rest of this series panting after this man. Now that we get a glimpse of what goes through his head... I am going to forever wonder what else goes through his head and what else he has done that we don't know about. The author has truly made a fictional character come to life with a mind of his own. ;)

Oh, I am so happy this book took a turn and didn't continue with Dani as the lead character. I have read every book by this author and was never as disappointed as I was with Iced. In fact, I was reluctant to pick up this book because I really felt the fever series was done with Shadowfever. And, honestly, I still think the same thing.

While this book got rid of all the ick issues I had with Iced, it was a fun and entertaining read but something was missing. I love Mac and Barrons. You also got a lot of backstory and insight into the characters that you never got before. So why do I still feel like Shadowfever should have been the end? I'm having a hard time putting my finger on it, but I just think the plot was thin, and while I love the characters, I'm over them.

I need something new.

Finished it, loved it, immediately turned around to look for the release date of the next one in the series and found that it is already available on Amazon for pre-order... 8 months from now it will be in my mailbox. :)

Unlike other reviewers, I loved the fact that the POV changed from character to character... it gave us a more complete vision of what the Fever World looks like now that the walls have fallen. Also unlike other reviewers, I didn't mind that Dani's POV wasn't as prevalent as in the first book... Mac has an interesting way of viewing the world, but it also created a disturbing amount of tension not know where Dani was or what she was experiencing. If we'd been seeing her POV all along, the big revelation wouldn't have been so explosive.

5 stars, hands-down... and my fingers are already itching to flip the pages of the next book.

Okay to be honest after Iced I wasn’t sure if I would read Burned, I really didn’t like Iced as much as the other books in the series. And just to be clear, it had nothing to do with Dani’s age, that didn’t bother me, it was Dani herself was that got on my nerves. So when I read that we get Mac and JZB back I knew I would give it a try. This Book is a 180 from Iced in my opinion and we are back to the way the books used to be.
I would suggest you read the glossary that is at the end of the book first to reintroduce yourself with all the major characters and places form prior books.

Burned by KMM

I liked this book much more than I wanted to. I've been a fan of KMM since her Highlander series. Kiss of the Highlander was my first highlander book and remains one of my all time favorites. And the original 5 book Fever series was fantastic. Dark, twisted, at times both hard to read and impossible to put down.

And now here we are, Fever 7. Mac is back. Dani is back-seated. The story is engaging from the start. Drew me right in. I needed to know what happened to all my favorite characters. I needed to know if they were getting any closer to fixing their world. I was excited. And if it wasn't for the assault on feminism that is Mac and Barrons, I would have given this book a much better rating. Mac should be a strong woman, she's certainly a capable woman. But it's growing more obvious to me that she's also an abused woman. And it makes me mad. I read a blog post just today defending romance against the claim that it teaches women that being abused by the alpha male is ok. I don't buy that for one second. But I also can see that Mac and Barrons don't exactly send the best message. This is not a relationship of equals. If you follow KMM, you'll know that this is completely intentional. Mac is not equal to Barrons, and won't be until she suffers some more. A big part of me hopes Mac comes to her senses, drops Barrons (no matter how hot the sex is) and finds herself an honorable MacKeltar to settle down with.

So I guess my advice to readers is this. If you are fans of the Fever series, you'll probably like the story. But if you're like me, you'll also be angry and disappointed.
