I laughed, I cried, I felt all the feelings. I thought I had a good idea of where this would go and it did not go that way and that was awesome. A fun and poignant read.

Wow. This book is so profound but light and romantic at the same time. I’m truly inspired by this writing and could not relate more to Frank, especially when talking about race and our place in the world. It’s like such a relief to read this and be like YES, THIS IS WHAT IT’S LIKE.

I love this book it was wonderful and I can’t wait for more.
My heart belongs to it.

Damn David Yoon.
You got it.

Absolutely fascinating read and insight into Korean American culture. Also a hilarious reminder of teenage foibles. Highly enjoyable read.

It was okay. I liked the plot with Frank's parents more than the romance - I wasn't expecting to cry at the end. I also liked that a lot of the cultural conflict was internal within the parent's group rather than Korean vs American culture. Book veers closer to NA than YA considering characters sleep together though thankfully it's offscreen.

dnf - while i do appreciate asian american rep in YA and i can definitely see how the conversations, esp around having immigrant parents and addressing anti blackness in asian american communities, are very topical and valuable especially in a YA novel, i just couldn’t get past frank’s inner monologue. might come back to this in the future, but for now it’s a dnf for me.
