Identity. Immigration. Family. Racism. First love. Stupid teenage boy humor, but also some really witty humor. A cute, easy read with some important insights IMO.

I enjoyed this, especially all the wordplay and jokes. Some of it was a little obvious, but I still enjoyed the ride.

I have no idea how to go about reviewing this book.

The best parts by far, for me, were the insights into Korean and American-Korean culture, as someone with no prior knowledge and experience. Otherwise, I did not like this book.

Frank I found very annoying at times. It is very clear that the author has a lot of cynicism for modern social media, which makes me ask why not set this book during the 90's, or whenever his own teen years were, if he was only going to give the protagonist an (unchallenged) superiority complex over these things.

I have no idea why Frank likes Brit. She is the most "preformative woke" character I have ever read.
Spoiler When Franks dad is shot, and she is angry with Frank for not telling her, my mind went !!!red flag from hell!!! That is the most self-centred and egotistical reaction she could have possibly had. And the narrative tries to justify this??? Why???

Joy don't really have enough of a personality for me to say if I do-or-don't like her. Very Disappointing that the two romantic interests in this supposed romance are the least interesting character dynamics.

About half why through, the story shift from the "fake dating" plot, to being more character-driven, and focusing on Frank and his relationship with his parents, which I found much more interesting. Q was done super dirty at the end there though and really left a sour note on the whole thing.

This book was a book that i could tell was written by a man if that makes sense. Overall I was really good but the whole time the plot just felt really spelled out. I really like the Asian rep and Franks internal issues with his heritage. The romance was really cute and overall was a really good time.

This book made me cry throughout the whole thing. Not even at particularly sad moments, david yoon is just so good at portraying feelings that I felt them too. The ending was perfect, there was no great romance or infinite moments, just very human feelings. Maybe it was hope. It was not a romance novel, it was so much more.

Teen novel/fun read about a Korean boy straddling 2 cultures (I could relate). It wasn't predictable and a completely fun read.
