DNF on page 336. I can't believe I wasted so much fucking time on this book. It took until book IV for it to get even *slightly* interesting, for the story to even *start*. And Quasimodo, the only reason I even tried to push through it, barely is in it. And I hate the writing on top of it. I didn't have any desire to read this book before, I really don't anymore. I don't care I got through the majority of it, the rest can kiss my ass. I'll try watching the movie (pretty sure I never have...there's multiple aren't there? i'll have to look into that).

I didn't really enjoy this book that much, and yet I'm hoping that if I read it a second time round, I may appreciate it more. However, at present, I just found it boring.

Lol it’s just so long

This is somewhere between a 3.5 and 4 stars.

This book is epic in scope and stunning in the obvious love for Paris of the Middle Ages and Notre Dame. It is vast, it is sweeping, it is a classic.

That being said this book also falls short. Hogo's Les Miserables may be the greatest book ever written, this book is certainly not.

Esmeralda is an annoyingly frustrating character throughout, continually doing bone headed things that makes you want to scream at her.

Much more manageable page wise than Les Miserables, but not nearly as brilliant.

It's taking me a while to read because it's slow moving and also I have to read it slowly else I'll miss everything. I'm loving the drama though.
I love Quasimodo. The love he had for Esmeralda? So pure. I... Wow... Like so pure. I wish someone would write a retelling of this book where Esmeralda loves Quasimodo and he gets the girl and they live happily ever after, and the priest is dead. Please someone write this. Wait, I just had a thought. Technically, all beauty and the beast retellings can be thought of like this. So... He should have gotten the girl. Just saying.
Also Esmeralda's mom? That girl is very very lucky to be so loved.
