Characters were clearly on different pages the entire time. It was actually uncomfortable how much the other character wasn’t taking into account the other didn’t want anything serious. I personally didn’t enjoy that or the fact that they really didn’t vibe in general. There was nothing left for me to hold onto unfortunately

Disappointing? I liked Read Between the Lines but this one didn’t do it for me. I didn’t particularly like the writing (too much tell and not enough show) and the hate towards Grace seemed a bit unnecessary - it’s not the worst thing in the world to want some space, and Lia kept saying she wasn’t pushing her, but it really felt like she was. Also the ending felt rushed, nearly forced;
I wish they hadn’t said ‘I love you’ after a near death experience but in a more normal setting
. At the end it felt like Grace had to change the way she sees the world while Lia remained pretty much of the same beliefs

Such a good romance! Lia and Grace's feelings were written so wonderfully, with attention to both their growing love and their unresolved trauma. Lacey's undeniable spark shines through this novel, and I can't wait to read more from her.
